Ballerinas wear Pink too!

Ballet Virginia International dancers performed at the Tidewater Susan G. Komen organization’s Mermaids and Martinis event at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in downtown Norfolk October 2.

This annual event is the talk of the town, and included the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind Pink Ribbon Mermaid, designed and created by Georgia Mason, and a Silent Auction and Pink Balloon auction to raise funds for the organization. In addition to performing, BVI provided a wonderful prize package for the event’s silent auction which included two season tickets, plus two tickets to our "Artists Supporting the Arts" gala.

Thanks to all of those individuals who helped us with the Mermaids and Martinis event. This is the second year that Ballet Virginia International has participated in breast cancer awareness and fundraising event. The Board of Directors has named our outreach program Ballerinas Wear Pink Too.. We believe

that women’s health issues are a good fit for our community outreach project, because of the Academy.s emphasis on the health and wellness of young dancers.
